So close

For all of you who have small children and think that toilet training it the end all to your daily tasks with helping the children. I have found a new milestone to celebrate. It's better than sliced bread, I swear. The day when your child learns to...

wait for it...

wait for it...

(ok, way over dramatic)

cut their own food.

You have no idea how wonderful it is not to have to cut spaghetti, pancakes, or anything is else halfway tough. So incredibly nice to eat my food while it's still hot. So this gives you one more hurdle to look forward to crossing.

*Awww crap.... as I write this post, I hear, "MOOMMMM! Can you cut my waffles?" That just sucks! At least she's toilet trained.

You are so right! That's monumental! You can actually eat now!

that will be a good day. almost as good as the day my newly potty trained toddler learns to wipe her own butt.

Yup..so true! Or the best is when they can buckle themselves in their own car seat!!

Did you say hot food? Is it really supposed to be hot? Haha! I havent ate a hot meal in a loooong time.

Congrats!

Puree diet and a straw for the kids... and nice hot, juicy steak and tater for mama... JK I don't really puree their food, it's more like "blended" or "chopped" in a fancy infomercial single serving handy dandy smoothie maker.

I can't wait until mine can cut his own food. I do it out of habit and cut mine at the same time! How sad is that? :P

I'm still waiting for that day! We are making progress though--the boys will sometimes eat pizza and actually hold the slice with their hands--yay!

roflrofl, you made me laugh! Yes, it is a glorious day when they can wipe and cut!

I had never thought about it before, but you are so right! That will be the day!

Yes, the wiping is great! I hadn't really thought about the cutting, but now that you mention it, I *do* look forward to that! Number one for me, I have to agree with Alicia, buckling the seatbelt. Ahhhhh, I love it when they can buckle themselves!!!

LOL, I dont even make my plate until all of the kids are cut up and eating! I'll make my plate and even then I'm lucky to eat it when it's hot.

That would be great. You mean one day I will actually get to eat a HOT meal? What about getting to sit down all the way through dinner without getting somebody something?

Jennifer, Playgroups Are No Place For Children said...

Diapers never really bothered me (still don't), but I'd LOVE to be able to just sit down to dinner and EAT. No cutting someone else's food, no getting up 47 times to refill drinks, no wiping up spilled drinks. One day, one day.

Wait. You cut your kids' food? Huh. My kid isn't that lucky.

Yep ~ wiping and cutting...looking forward to that! Yet part of me will miss their dependence on me, but that's a whole other post!

I still do it out of habit sometimes lol...Now if only I could convince him to tie his own shoes!
